ARE YOUR EYES WIDE SHUT?
There are only so many times in the one week that I can see the words Zindra and Blue Mars without thinking something just doesn’t seem right. While I think it was very admirable for LL to welcome their direct competitors Blue Mars to take the virtual stage on THEIR GRID, and tell the SL residents how fabulous Blue Mars is going to be, Am I the only person on the grid who sees this as a bit weird?
I have thought about this a lot and there is only one way I can explain it. It would being like Coke allowing Pepsi to place a ‘Drink Pepsi we are better’ on the side of their cans. We all know that is ridiculous and just wouldn’t happen in a zillion years. Unless of course the two were planning to merge or something and that wouldn’t happen either.
I have decided today to let you all see what other types of rumours are flying about on the grid, apart from the ones about certain people. At the risk of sounding cliche,I'll just have to sound cliche and say that there is only so many times you can see someone's name involved in a scandal before it gets boring, eye rolling starts and you find yourself thinking that your in a scooby doo cartoon.
OK, recently rumours have been rife on the grid that there is a possibility that the teen grid will become linked to the main grid. The reasons for this seem to be because Joe blogs, who is still 17, cant meet or speak to his BFF john doe, who turned 18 before him and moved on to the adult sl. What a tragedy, but shit happens. Use the phone, email him or get skype. In my opinion this is not be viable or a believable excuse for LL to merge the teen grid with the adult grid. We aren’t dumb and despite my fun and frivolous outlook on second life, I like a lot of avatars wasn’t born this morning. The last thing we need, and I am sure lots of girls will agree, is more horny little Mr Testosterone's running about pretending to be 30somethings and trying to slip their hands up our virtual skirts.
Two Months ago the rumour was that LL want to make sl a cleaner place for all of us dirty avatars. It was ok for us to be dirty avatars for 6 years, and then all of a sudden there was to be a mass clean up. We heard rumour of the new continents being created in a bid to separate adult stuff from the not so adult stuff. We all laughed and some protested over the changes but I am afraid you can’t fight what you will never have control over. The protests where held, the petitions where submitted but being paying residents would never make a bit of difference, you really are just an avatar number. The silly rumours quickly became a reality.
I have read reports recently on how LL wants to make second life an ‘educational place’ where we can all be educated, inspired and blah blah. Well I certainly don’t come to SL to get an education. I’m 33 and burned my school books a long time ago. I know everything I need to know and personally I don’t think Second Life is a place for young people to be learning about Life. You learn life away from the keyboard and screen. When you do, you will find sl far more enjoyable.
Another ongoing heated debate is whether child avatars should be allowed in the adult Zindra continent. I can see both side of this argument. It’s all about the depiction of child images being in an adult region. I am sure you all know that sl is full to the brim with perverts.I have named and shamed many of our resident paedophiles, so I can understand why people would worry lines could easily be crossed. On the other hand, people have families and not everyone who has a child in their family is a paedophile. This all has to stop. If you are over 18 you are entitled to live as you wish. If you get harassed by a pervert, file an abuse report. If that doesn’t work, file ten. Anyway most of the child avatars I know wouldn’t be caught dead in Zindra.
With all the tales of the new continent being full to the brim with dirt and debauchery I thought I’d go check it out. Because of all the stuff I read on the net about it, I just thought it would be a cool place to meet the equally bad. It was shit and it really did just look like SL did when I first rezzed only emmm , a lot more blue.
I do think Lindens should perhaps TP away from the Linden Village sometimes and explore the grid. They would see how much SL has evolved and how the SL builders and creators work, instead of putting us back in 2006 with all the crappy textures I saw.
On a lighter note and to finish, I did get waved at by two Linden personnel. It’s nice to be noticed but there is a difference between noticed and followed. /me rolls eyes.
I was tempted to drop each a file full of LM to various skin and clothing stores but I didn’t, because I don’t know if they are allowed to look easy on the eye. I was swarmed on by naked noobs and got hit on more time that Susan Boyles you tube video. It was hilarious.
