Costa Rica Sims Winter Ball 2008

On Sunday, the 14th, we kicked off the holidays with the first official big party of the season. The Costa Rica Sims held its Winter Ball 2008, the second party to be held at the brand new Costa Rica Events sim. This was a capacity event, and the very elegantly attired guests enjoyed a concert by the equally elegant Coda Cazalet.

The Costa Rica Opera House provided the venue for the festivities, and the entire sim was transformed into a winter fantasy. Guests walked through a snowy forest, past a towering Christmas tree and Santa's chair, and arrived at the Opera House. A horse drawn sleigh sat at the bottom of the steps to the building, providing a perfect setting for taking holiday pictures. Eight tiny reindeer flew overhead, escorting Saint Nic on his yultide excursion.

Greeting the guests at the doors were Costa Rica Sims C.E.O. Giancarlo Takacs, and his staff of executives. Staff and guests alike overlooked no detail in arriving in their finest holiday attire.

Despite the sim being full to capacity, crashing was kept to a minimum--I only crashed once myself, at the start of the party. Low-profile residents and high-profile special guests alike filled the large dancefloor. The earthy yet sophisticated Miss Cazalet did a fantastic job of completing the refined ambiance, and the guests made sure she had no shortage of special requests as elaborate gowns swirled around the dancefloor.

Despite the very grand setting, Mr. Takacs had no problem sharing some of his personal issues with the crowd.

Miss Cazalet did crash once during the event, but like a true professional, she worked it out and continued to deliver an outstanding performance.

Throughout the party, the sim was maxxed out to capacity, yet it still performed admirably. Very few textures took long to rez, and the guests managed to dance to the music.

The beautifully decorated ballroom hosted some of SL's most famous, as well as some of SL's not-so-famous.

Of course, like most people, I was having my own battle with trying to fight the lag, be sociable, and take pictures, so I was glad that some of the guests sent me some pictures that they took themselves. Besides, this just wouldn't be SL InWorld Today if it was all sunshine and lollipops, since that always makes us puke. Now that Natalie and I have entered our "terrible twos", we have a lot to live up to.

Thankfully, Gawdfather Of Fashion Kirk Claymore is quick with the camera, otherwise we might not be able to enjoy this shot of Mr. Takacs experiencing an episode of "gapingholitis." Another theory is that Miss Costa Rica Sims 2009 Maxie Daviau had stepped on his feet with her stiletto.

Miss Daviau is also quick with the camera, and managed to snap this shot of her with (from left to right) Leo Xenno, MissEm Boa, and FreeSpirit Rhode.

If only the rest of the world saw me the way Mr. Claymore sees me...

Thanks to Miss Marielle Magic for letting me know that it is, in fact, Mr. Claymore himself that is the messed up one.

Either Mr. Claymore is shrinking, or Mr. DuPont is getting taller. Mr. Claymore also seemed to have a hole in his trousers, or perhaps a certain body part was playing peek-a-boo.
