MISS SL UNIVERSE HANDS BACK HER CROWN
Babyhoney Bailey, the winner of Miss SL Universe in its first season has resigned her position, ceasing all further connection and endorsement to the SL Universe Organization*
Having been offered little participation in the SL Universe Organization's events since her win in January 2008, Bailey has returned her crown to Frolic Mills, owner of "Best of Second Life" magazine and founder of Miss SL Universe. Bailey feels that the outcome and quality of the pageant have not lived up to the original promises. Misrepresentation of prizes, an over abundance of elitism, and several breaches in her original contract are only a few of her stated reasons for stepping down.
"I've worked hard in Second LifeĀ® to build a name and reputation synonymous with integrity and respect and I don't take my affiliations lightly. I just don't feel I can, in good conscience, continue to lend my name to this organization."
Bailey took the crown amid much controversy in late January, 2008 when the winner was mis-announced by one of the hosts. The pageant was one of the largest in SL to date, featuring a series of events that narrowed the finalists down to an eventual Top 5 contestants.
Bailey does not know what the future plans are for this year's reign, "but I do wish the absolute very best to whomever follows as the reigning Miss SL Universe," she says.
